Geothermal technologies use renewable energy resources to generate electricity and direct use of heat while producing very low levels of greenhouse-gas (GHG) emissions. Geothermal energy is the thermal energy stored in the underground, including any contained fluid, which is available for extraction and conversion into energy products.The paper also describes the facilitation of rejuvenated Ministry of New and Renewable energy to organization working in this undeveloped field of energy. The paper concludes with the recent exploration plans of Centre of Excellence for Geothermal Energy, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, DRDO and NTPC. Possible uses of this clean energy are also documented.Publisher Summary. This chapter focuses on the assessment and exploitation of drilling technology. Drilling is one of the important areas where geothermal resource development has gained considerably from the expertise of the oil and gas industry. At present, geothermal energy is being sought primarily for the production of electric power, but its utilization in other forms, such as space and industrial heating, may be of great value in the economy of many nations.This paper discussed the applications of nanotechnology in green energy manufacturing, especially in the manufacturing of several typical green energy such as solar energy, nuclear energy, biomass energy and geothermal energy, and then pointed out that nanotechnology was helpful to eliminate the technical bottlenecks of green energy manufacturing.
